Roger CAPRON

FRANCE (1922-2006)

Roger Capron studied at Art appliqués of Paris from 1938 to 1943 before teaching drawing in the same establishment from 1945. In 1946, he settled in Vallauris where he created a ceramic workshop called Callis. Still, he collaborated with Robert Picault and Jean Derval in 1948. In 1952, Capron bought an abandoned pottery and started to produce, with seven workers, several objects and decorative panels (from 1955, he initiated the production of earthenwares’ tiles and tables). From 1962 begun a collaboration between Capron and Jean-Michel Carré. They exhibited next to each others at Batimat in 1963. Roger Capron was distinguished for his work of several awards including the international prize of ceramic in 1970.
