CARBONELL Guidette

Guidette CARBONELL

France (1910-2008)

Guidette Carbonell attends classes at André Lhote, Othon friesz and Roger Bissière’s studios. From her beginnings, she is moving towards ceramic which she gave up at the end of the 1960s for tapestries made of pasted and sewn fabric pieces. Shifting from abstract to figurative, she embedded to clay or concrete some unusual elements whenever she wishes. Guidette Carbonell describes a disturbing interior world, close to childhood fantasy. Nurtured from an eastern culture, astonished by the roman and the primitive representations, Guidette Carbonell spread out a fabulous bestiary where human is morphing with animal. Her works, which explored the mythological, the music and the poetry of science universes with a tireless wonder towards nature, appear nowadays such as a very contemporary expression.
