CHAPO Pierre

Pierre CHAPO

France (1927-1987)

Graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, Pierre Chapo begins to travel in North America. When he comes back, he opens in 1958 the galerie Chapo in the 5th district of Paris where he exhibits his own creations. He creates his first pieces in his Clamart studio: the L01, known as lit Godot, commissioned by Samuel Beckett, the Table T01 or the stool S01. From the 60s, Pierre Chapo contributes to numerous projects with Charlotte Perriand, Serge Mouille or Georges Jouve. To the limits of art, design and craft, his pieces hold a major part in the post-war collections.
