Fritz Hansen was a danish furniture manufacturer, located in Allerød. In 1872, Hansen founded a wood-turning business which introduced industrial process into furniture making. The firm was involved in a legal dispute in 1933 with Lorenz-Thonet over cantilever chair design. In the 1930’s, Fritz Hansen produced the furniture designs of Mart Stam, Arne Jacobsen, Fritz Schlegel, and Magnus Stephensen and, subsequently, the works of Gunnar Andersen, Piet Hien, Grete Jalk or Hans Wegner
