Japan (1946)

Born in Séoul, Toyo Ito joins the Tokyo University in architecture where he graduates in 1970. He then begins his career working for the architect Kiyonori Kikutake. From 1971, he settles his own agency – URBOT for urban robot, renamed “Toyo Ito and Associates, Architects” in 1979. He then creates several individuals architecture in Japan. The conceptual architecture of Toyo Ito is awarded by numerous and prestigious awards such as the golden lion in 2002 for his buildings located in the Architecture Biennale in Venezia, and also a golden compass in 2004 for his Ripples bench design.
