Considered one of the masters of Italian design, Carlo De CARLI was born in Milan in 1910. An architect by training, he taught at the Polytechnic of Milan and Turin as well as at the University of Architecture in Venice. A loyal collaborator of Gio PONTI, De CARLI presented his own creations at numerous trade fairs and thus took an important place on the world market. Renowned internationally, in 1957 he founded the magazine Il Mobile Italiano with the didactic intention of presenting to the general public how furniture creation is structured, particularly in the relationship between the designer and his publisher. He thus particularly focused on promoting Italian production with the help of extensive and illustrated documentation, still rare in the 1950s.
