EXHIBITION L'APPARTEMENT D'UN COLL... > 20 SEPT - 26 OCT 2019
The Alexandre GUILLEMAIN Gallery is pleased to welcome you to the exhibition “L’Appartement d’un Collectionneur”.
Exhibition from September 20 to October 26, 2019
Alexandre GUILLEMAIN Gallery
35, rue Guénégaud – Paris 6
Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. / 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This September, the Galerie Alexandre Guillemain is transformed into a real design collector’s apartment and invites you to enter successively the living room, the dining room, the office, the library or even the bedroom of a fantasy place, where the greatest names in the history of decorative arts rub shoulders. The staging imagined for the occasion combines the leading modernist designers of the Galerie Alexandre Guillemain (George Nakashima, Vladimir Kagan, Charlotte Perriand, etc.) with the most unexpected pieces from major creators of the 1980s and 1990s (Ettore Sottsass, Martin Szekely, André Branzi, etc.).
Isn’t the aim of a collection to establish, in a common space, a dialogue between the objects that compose it in order to reveal its meaning? The exhibition thus seeks to touch as closely as possible the dream of every collector, which would be to create a collection (to experience!), reflecting a history of design interpreted to one’s taste. It is also an opportunity for La Galerie to question its role with collectors, which for almost 20 years has combined selection, promotion, advice and contextualization of the works it presents.
