Artists specializing in wall sculpture and decorative metal objects, Curtis FREILER and Jerry FELS are known by the contraction of their two names: CURTIS JERE. With FREILER as head of production and FELS as head of design, they founded the corporation Artisan House in 1963, which produced their creations until 1972. They were then distributed by Raymor, a cutting-edge studio in New York, and sold at Gump’s in San Francisco. Wishing to develop a “quality art gallery for the masses,” CURTIS JERE developed numerous decorative panels and sculptures that could range from abstraction to the most meticulous figuration.
