George Nelson is an American architect and designer trained at Yale University. A scholarship allowed him to study at the American Academy in Rome, his work will always be marked by this encounter with the masterpieces of architecture and modern European art. He joined the editorial staff of the “Architectural Forum” until 1944, when he was appointed director of design at Herman Miller until 1972. Considered one of the pioneers of the modern movement, he created some of the canonical pieces of industrial design. His furniture is particularly characterized by the precision of the execution, the quality of the materials but also the lightness, simplicity and elegance of its lines.
