A lawyer by training, Paolo Venini founded the famous glassworks that bears his name in 1921. His collaboration with leading designers such as Carlo Scarpa, Gio Ponti and Fulvio Banconi gave rise to some of the major pieces of 20th century glass art. From the beginning, the VENINI factory encouraged the creation of innovative models made using traditional techniques. When Paolo died in 1959, the management of the company was taken over by Ludovico Diaz de Santillana, his son-in-law, who continued his policy of collaboration with the greatest names in design.
